Air India, India’s national carrier, and dnata Switzerland AG, one of Switzerland's leading ground handler, are pleased to announce a strategic partnership for comprehensive ground handling services, including ramp, passenger, and cargo operations, at Zurich Airport. This new agreement marks a significant return for Air India, reinstating services in Zurich after last operating routes to the city in 1997.
Commencing from the 16th of June onwards, Air India will offer four weekly flights that will connect New Delhi, India's capital, with Zurich. The flights, scheduled for Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, will utilize the state-of-the-art Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, seating 256 passengers. The flight schedule is meticulously tailored to meet the needs of various traveler segments including business travelers, tourists, and those visiting friends and relatives (VFR), with departures from Zurich at 8:50 pm, arriving in New Delhi at 08:05 am the following day. The return flights will leave New Delhi at 2:05 pm, reaching Zurich at 7:15 pm. This timing facilitates excellent onward connections for travelers in both cities.
As a Star Alliance member, this partnership further allows Air India to offer smooth and efficient connecting flights with other Star Alliance members, enhancing the connectivity at both Zurich and New Delhi airports. Passengers will also be able to conveniently connect through Delhi's airport to various domestic and international destinations. This initiative is part of Air India’s broader strategy to expand its global network, which now includes over 100 destinations worldwide, following a historic order of 470 new aircraft.
Amidst these developments, Air India is also undergoing a dynamic rebranding to reflect the spirit and cultural heritage of India, symbolizing the airline's ambitions and future prospects. This rebranding is expected to resonate well with international and domestic travelers by offering a modern yet quintessentially Indian flying experience.
dnata Switzerland is excited to support Air India as it embarks on this new chapter. With over two decades of experience in providing high-quality airline handling services, dnata is committed to ensuring the highest standards of safety and customer satisfaction. At Zurich and Geneva Airports, dnata’s operations include managing over 35,000 flights annually, moving more than 83,000 tons of cargo, and welcoming over 7 million passengers, facilitating a smooth and seamless travel experience.
